Startup - Gamified
Financial App
This is a mobile app and web-based platform, which empowers users to create and manage a healthy financial life. We simplify finance through engaging, yet powerful, financial tools that leverage machine learning to simplify our users to invest their money.
My Role
Co-founder, Designer and Researcher
Start of The Idea
I converted strategic thinking into solutions that unify business objectives with user needs for a gamified finance app using my UX design and research knowledge.

Market Analysis
We want to make fundamental investing fun and social through a gamified interactive platform where users can learn, test their skills, share content and invest. I did a lot of market analysis after the idea was generated and we found out current consumer investment tools do not address this problem.

Early Concept
This product was an education tool to help teach online trading. It gamified the trading process to make it easier for the users to understand the learning curve. We had to come up with a lot of different strategies and metaphors to help teach finance through the game such as the boat which required different parts to stay afloat.

User Research
The hypothesis was that if we can present our idea to the users and we can make the experience more fun and engaging, the user with choices to use our app to learn and use it to help them with their online trading.

Our target audiences are millennials. During the user research, we found out that millennials (among many others) suffer from financial illiteracy and alienation
-
Numbed to advertising
-
Don’t understand the stock market
-
Current tools are predominantly for trading without providing any basis for insight into investments and how to analyze and value a company
Satisfying Millennials as consumers requires a completely new approach. They come into money, for a number of reasons including:
-
As millennials mature, they need a new kind of financial platform that fits their unique needs and empowers them as consumers and investors. Our first objective is to demystify investing by providing a fun, logical technology for understanding and participating, in direct investing.
User Testing
Our target audience was millennials who have low financial literacy but are interested in investing. The testing was conducted in a few coffee shops in New York City. Each test had at least eight sessions. The participants were recruited through friends and family.

During the study, it was important to figure out if the user can understand:
-
The user flow
-
Usability
-
Findability
-
Value proposition.

Final product
Finally, we designed a fun and easy-to-use product. The first hook is turning investing in stocks into an accessible and engaging experience - no real money. Visual and intuitive. Step-by-step you learn a new approach to fundamental investing.
